۞ "Bring ye up", it shall be said, "The wrong-doers and their wives, and the things they worshipped- 22 besides God, and lead them to the path of the Fire; 23 and stop them there for questioning: 24 "What is the matter with you that you do not help each other?" 25 Nay, but this day they make full submission. 26 and advance one upon another, asking each other questions. 27 These say, 'Why, you of old would come to us from the right hand.' 28 They answer: Nay, but ye (yourselves) were not believers. 29 And we had over you no authority, but ye were a people exorbitant. 30 So our Lord's Word is realised against us; we are tasting it. 31 So then, [if it be true that] we have caused you to err grievously - behold, we ourselves had been lost in grievous error!" 32 Truly, that Day, they will (all) share in the Penalty. 33 Verily that is how We shall deal with Sinners. 34 For they, when they were told that there is no god except Allah, would puff themselves up with Pride, 35 And (they) said: "Are we going to abandon our aliha (gods) for the sake of a mad poet? 36 Rather, the Prophet has come with the truth and confirmed the [previous] messengers. 37 You shall certainly taste the painful punishment: 38 And ye shall be required not except for that which ye have been doing; 39 But for the sincere worshipers of Allah, 40 there is waiting for them a known provision; 41 fruits -- and they high-honoured 42 In the Gardens of delight, 43 sitting face to face upon couches, 44 Round shall be passed a cup unto them filled with limpid drink: 45 Clear, delicious to drink, 46 Free from headiness; nor will they suffer intoxication therefrom. 47 And with them will be mates of modest gaze, most beautiful of eye, 48 As if they were (delicate) eggs closely guarded. 49 They will turn to each other and ask questions. 50 one of them will say, "I had a friend, 51 Who said: What! are you indeed of those who accept (the truth)? 52 After we are dead and have become all dust and bones shall we still be requited?' 53 (A voice) said: "Would ye like to look down?" 54 Then he will look down and see him in the midst of the Flaming Fire. 55 'By Allah' he will say, 'you almost destroyed me! 56 Had it not been for the grace of my Lord I too would have been there (in Hell). 57 What then, shall we not die 58 except for our first death? And shall we suffer no chastisement?'” 59 Verily, this - this indeed - is the triumph supreme!" 60 For the like of this then let the workers work. 61 Is that (Paradise) better entertainment or the tree of Zaqqum (a horrible tree in Hell)? 62 We have made this tree a trial for the wrong-doers. 63 It is a tree that grows in the nethermost part of Hell. 64 Its produce is as it were the heads of the serpents. 65 They will eat and fill their bellies with it, 66 Then after it, indeed for them is the drink of boiling hot water. 67 And thereafter verily their return is unto the Flaming Fire. 68 Verily they found their fathers gone astray. 69 and they run in their footsteps. 70 And certainly most of the ancients went astray before them, 71 And indeed We had sent Heralds of warnings among them. 72 See how those who were warned met their end! 73 But not the chosen servants of Allah. 74
