The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
46 verses, revealed in Mecca after The News (Al-Naba') before Shattering (Al-Infitaar)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By oath of those who harshly pull out the soul. 1 And by those who gently draw out the souls of the blessed, 2 and by those that speedily glide along (the cosmos), 3 By the angels hastening, 4 by those that direct an affair! 5 The day on which the quaking one shall quake, 6 There will follow it the subsequent [one]. 7 Hearts on that Day will be throbbing; 8 Unable to lift their gaze. 9 They say, "What? shall we be brought back to life, 10 What, when we are bones old and wasted?' 11 They shall say, 'That then were a losing return!' 12 So that is not but a single shout. 13 and lo, they will all be in the open plain. 14 Has not there come to you the story of Musa? 15 Behold, thy Lord did call to him in the sacred valley of Tuwa:- 16 [saying], "Go to Pharaoh, he has exceeded all bounds, 17 "And say to him, 'Wouldst thou that thou shouldst be purified (from sin)?- 18 And I will guide you to your Lord so that you should fear. 19 And he showed him the greatest sign, 20 But (Pharaoh) rejected it and disobeyed (guidance); 21 Then he turned his back, striving hard (against Allah). 22 Then he collected (his men) and made a proclamation, 23 “I am the supreme lord of you all.” 24 But Allah did punish him, (and made an) example of him, - in the Hereafter, as in this life. 25 Surely in that is a lesson for him who fears! 26
