Man We fashioned from fermented clay dried tingling hard, 26 And created the jinn before him, from smokeless fire. 27 When your Lord said to the angels, "I will create the human being out of pure mud-moulded clay. 28 "When I have fashioned him (in due proportion) and breathed into him of My spirit, fall ye down in obeisance unto him." 29 So the angels made obeisance, all of them together, 30 Except Iblis (Satan); he refused to be among those who prostrated. 31 He said: O Iblis! What aileth thee that thou art not among the prostrate? 32 He said: I am not such that I should make obeisance to a mortal whom Thou hast created of the essence of black mud fashioned in shape. 33 God told him, "Get out of the garden; you are rejected 34 "And the curse shall be on thee till the day of Judgment." 35 He said: My Lord! then respite me till the time when they are raised. 36 Said He, 'Thou art among the ones that are respited 37 Till the Day of appointed time. 38 He said, "My Lord, since You have let me go astray. I shall make the path of error seem alluring to them on the earth and shall mislead them all, 39 except Your sincere servants". 40 God said, "The path which leads to Me is a straight 41 Lo! as for My slaves, thou hast no power over any of them save such of the froward as follow thee, 42 Surely Hell is the promised place for all of them." 43 There are seven gates in it, and to each gate a portion of them has been allotted. 44
