The Prophets (Al-Anbyaa')
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ The people's day of reckoning is drawing closer, yet they are heedlessly neglectful. 1 Whenever there comes unto them any new reminder from their Sustainer, they but listen to it with playful amusement, 2 their hearts being set on other concerns. The wrong-doers whisper to one another: "This person is no more than a mortal like yourselves. Will you, then, be enchanted by sorcery while you see?" 3 And the Prophet said, “My Lord knows all that is spoken in the heavens and in the earth; and He only is the All Hearing, the All Knowing." 4 Nay! say they: Medleys of dreams; nay! he has forged it; nay! he is a poet; so let him bring to us a sign as the former (prophets) were sent (with). 5 Not one township that We destroyed before them believed. Would they, then, believe? 6 And We sent not before you (O Muhammad SAW) but men to whom We inspired, so ask the people of the Reminder [Scriptures - the Taurat (Torah), the Injeel (Gospel)] if you do not know. 7 And We did not create them (the Messengers, with) bodies that ate not food, nor were they immortals, 8 Then We made Our promise good to them and delivered whomsoever We pleased, and destroyed the transgressors. 9 We have indeed sent down towards you a Book, in which is your repute; so do you not have sense? 10
