The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When the Event will come to pass 1 There is, at its occurrence, no denial. 2 Abasing exalting. 3 When the earth is shaken with a shock 4 And the mountains are crumbled, crumbled. 5 So that they become dust seattered. 6 You shall then become three groups. 7 The People on the Right: and how fortunate will be the People on the Right! 8 And those on the Left Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Record in their left hands), Who will be those on the Left Hand? (As a disgrace for them, because they will enter Hell). 9 And the foremost in the race, the foremost in the race: 10 Those! they shall be the brought nigh, 11 In Gardens of Bliss: 12 A throng of the ancients, 13 And a few of the later peoples, 14 upon close-wrought couches 15 facing one another. 16 There wait on them immortal youths 17 with goblets and ewers and a cup filled with a drink drawn from a running spring, 18 (no brows throbbing, no intoxication) 19 with fruits of their own choice 20 and the meat of any bird that they may desire; 21 And wide eyed houris 22 like the pearls in their shells: 23 All this shall be theirs as a reward for their deeds. 24 They will not hear therein ill speech or commission of sin - 25 but only the saying: 'Peace, Peace' 26 And those on the right – how (fortunate) are those on the right! 27 They shall be in the midst of thornless lote trees, 28 And clustered plantains, 29 and extended shade, 30 near to flowing water 31 and an abundance of fruits, 32 unfailing and not forbidden. 33 And maidens incomparable. 34 for, behold, We shall have brought them into being in a life renewed, 35 And made them virginal, 36 intensely loving and of matching age. 37 with those who have attained to righteousness: 38
