The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
O thou enveloped! 1 arise, and warn! 2 And your Lord glorify 3 and purify your clothing, 4 And keep away from Ar-Rujz (the idols)! 5 And bestow not favour that thou mayest receive more. 6 be patient unto your Lord. 7 So when the Trumpet will be blown. 8 It will be a day of distress, 9 Far from easy for the disbelievers. 10 Leave Me alone with he whom I created 11 And for whom I appointed wealth extended. 12 And sons to be by his side!- 13 whose life I have made run smoothly 14 And who yet coveteth that shall increase. 15 By no means! For to Our Signs he has been refractory! 16 Anon I shall afflict him with a fearful woe. 17 For he had thought and calculated. 18 and thus he destroys himself, the way he meditates: 19 Then may he be destroyed [for] how he deliberated. 20 Then looked he, 21 frowned and scowled, 22 then he retreated and waxed proud, 23 and said: 'This is no more than traced sorcery; 24 “This is nothing but the speech of a man.” 25 Him shall I soon roast in Hell. 26 And what will make you realize what hell is? 27 It leaves naught nor does it spare aught. 28 It scorches the mortal. 29 Over it are appointed nineteen. 30 And We have not made the keepers of the Fire except angels. And We have not made their number except as a trial for those who disbelieve - that those who were given the Scripture will be convinced and those who have believed will increase in faith and those who were given the Scripture and the believers will not doubt and that those in whose hearts is hypocrisy and the disbelievers will say, "What does Allah intend by this as an example?" Thus does Allah leave astray whom He wills and guides whom He wills. And none knows the soldiers of your Lord except Him. And mention of the Fire is not but a reminder to humanity. 31
