Nay, and by the moon, 32 by the retreating night, 33 And by the Dawn as it shineth forth,- 34 This is but one of the mighty (portents), 35 A warning for people -- 36 For the one among you who wishes to come forward or stay back. 37 [On the Day of Judgment,] every human being will be held in pledge for whatever [evil] he has wrought 38 except the Companions of the Right. 39 (They will be) in Gardens (of Delight): they will question each other, 40 Of evil-doers: 41 “What drove you to Hell?” 42 They will say: we have not been of those who prayed. 43 And we have not been feeding the poor. 44 and we were wont to indulge in sinning together with all [the others] who indulged in it; 45 and belied the Day of Recompense 46 until the Inevitable End [death] overtook us." 47 So there will not benefit them the intercession of [any] intercessors. 48 Why then do they turn away from the admonition 49 as though they were terrified asses 50 fleeing from a lion? 51 In fact every one of them wants to be given open books (like the prophets). 52 By no means! Aye, they fear not the Hereafter. 53 No, indeed, surely, this is a Reminder. 54 Let him who will take heed: 55 But they will not benefit from it unless Allah Himself so wills. He is worthy to be feared; and He is worthy to forgive (those that fear Him). 56
