The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
WOE TO THOSE who give short measure, 1 Those who, when they have to receive by measure from men, demand full measure, 2 but when they measure or weigh, give less. 3 Do they not think that they will be called to account?- 4 for a great Day, 5 The Day when mankind will stand before the Lord of the Universe? 6 Indeed, the record of the disbelievers is in the lowest place, the Sijjeen. 7 Would that you knew what Sijin is!? 8 The record is a sealed text. 9 Woe, then, to those that give the lie, 10 Who call the Day of judgement a lie! 11 And none belieth it save each trespasser, sinner. 12 When Our communications are recited to him, he says: Stories of those of yore. 13 No! Rather, the stain has covered their hearts of that which they were earning. 14 By no means! Verily on that Day from their Lord they will be shut out. 15 Then indeed they have to enter hell. 16 Then it shall be said to them, 'This is that you cried lies to.' 17 Indeed the record of the virtuous is in the highest place, the Illiyin. 18 What could let you know what the 'Illiyoon is! 19 The record is a sealed text. 20 witnessed by all who have [ever] been drawn close unto God. 21 Verily the virtuous shall be in Bliss; 22 On thrones, looking (at all things). 23 thou knowest in their faces the radiancy of bliss 24 Their thirst will be slaked with Pure Wine sealed: 25 With a sealing of musk, which those who aspire for the best should desire, -- 26 a wine tempered with the waters of Tasnim, 27 a spring, the nearest ones to God will drink from it. 28 The sinners indeed laughed at believers 29 And winked at one another as they passed by them; 30 When they returned to their people they returned jesting; 31 And whenever they saw them, they would say, "Behold! These are the people truly astray!" 32 Yet they were not sent as watchers over them. 33 So this day it is the believers who laugh at the disbelievers. 34 On Thrones (of Dignity) they will command (a sight) (of all things). 35 "Are these deniers of the truth being [thus] requited for [aught but] what they were wont to do?" 36
