Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Certainly the news of the calamity that will overwhelm has come to you! 1 Many a face will be disgraced on that day. 2 Labouring (hard in the worldly life by worshipping others besides Allah), weary (in the Hereafter with humility and disgrace). 3 roasting at a scorching Fire 4 Made to drink water from the boiling hot spring. 5 No food will there be for them but a bitter Dhari' 6 Which will neither fatten nor avail against hunger. 7 (Other) faces that Day will be joyful, 8 Glad with their endeavour (for their good deeds which they did in this world, along with the true Faith of Islamic Monotheism). 9 In a lofty garden, 10 They shall hear therein no vain discourse; 11 Therein will be a bubbling spring: 12 Within it are couches raised high 13 And goblets set at hand 14 And cushions set in rows, 15 and rich carpets levelled out. 16 Do they not look at the Camels, how they are made?- 17 And at the sky, how it is raised aloft? 18 And at the mountains, how they are rooted? 19 And at the earth, how it is spread out? 20 Then remind them! Thou art only a reminder; 21 thou canst not compel them [to believe]. 22 However, those who turn away and disbelieve, 23 Then Allah will punish him with the greatest punishment. 24 Truly, to Us is their return; 25 Then indeed only upon Us is their reckoning. 26
