(The nation of) Aad belied their Messengers. 123 Behold, their brother Hud said to them: "Will ye not fear (Allah)? 124 I am for you a faithful Messenger, 125 Therefore guard against (the punishment of) Allah and obey me: 126 “And I do not ask from you any fee for it; my reward is only upon the Lord Of The Creation.” 127 "Do you build useless monuments on every mountain 128 and make for yourselves mighty castles, [hoping] that you might become immortal? 129 And if ye seize by force, seize ye as tyrants? 130 Have fear of God and obey me. 131 and [thus] be conscious of Him who has [so] amply provided you with all [the good] that you might think of 132 "He has aided you with cattle and children. 133 And gardens and fountains; 134 Lo! I fear for you the retribution of an awful day. 135 [But] they answered. "It is all one to us whether thou preachest [something new] or art not of those who [like to] preach. 136 This [religion of ours] is none other than that to which our forebears clung, 137 "And we are not going to be punished." 138 In response they denied him – We therefore destroyed them; indeed in this is a sign; and most of them were not believers. 139 Surely, your Lord is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 140
