And indeed Yunus is one of the Noble Messengers. 139 when he ran away to the laden ship 140 He (agreed to) cast lots, and he was condemned: 141 Then the big Fish did swallow him, and he had done acts worthy of blame. 142 And had he not been of those who exalt Allah, 143 He would certainly have remained inside the Fish till the Day of Resurrection. 144 ۞ Then We cast him on to the vacant surface of the earth while he was sick. 145 And We caused a plant of gourd to grow over him. 146 And We had sent him to a hundred thousand: rather they exceeded. 147 and they believed. So We let them enjoy life for a while. 148 Now ask thou them: are there for thy Lord daughters and for them sons? 149 Or did We make the angels females, and they witnessed it? 150 Lo! it is of their falsehood that they say: 151 Allah has begotten; and most surely they are liars. 152 Has He chosen daughters above sons? 153 What is the matter with you? How do you form your judgement? 154 Do you not understand? 155 Do you have any clear authority for such claims? 156 Bring your book if what you say is true. 157 They have established a kinship between Allah and the angels; and the angels know well that these people will be arraigned (as culprits). 158 limitless is God in His glory, above anything that men may devise by way of definition! 159 Except the bondmen of Allah sincere. 160 Lo! verily, ye and that which ye worship, 161 Not against Him can you cause (any) to fall into trial, 162 except him who shall roast in the Blazing Fire. 163 (Gabriel said to the Prophet): 'Each of us has a known place. 164 And verily we! we are ranged in ranks. 165 "And we are verily those who declare (Allah's) glory!" 166 And indeed they used to say: 167 "If we had had with us a Book like that of the people of old, 168 "We should certainly have been Servants of Allah, sincere (and devoted)!" 169 But (now that the Quran has come) they disbelieve therein (i.e. in the Quran and in Prophet Muhammad SAW, and all that which he brought, the Divine Revelation), so they will come to know! 170 Already Our Word has preceded to Our servants, the Envoys; 171 [That] indeed, they would be those given victory 172 and that Our hosts shall triumph. 173 Hence, turn thou aside for a while from those [who deny the truth,] 174 And see them thou; they themselves shall presently see. 175 Do they, then, [really] wish that Our chastisement be hastened on? 176 Then when it descendeth unto them face to face, a hapless morn that shall be for those who were warned. 177 Stay away from them for a while 178 And see, for they are going to see. 179 Hallowed be thine Lord, the Lord of Majesty, from that which they ascribe! 180 And peace be upon the Envoys; 181 It is only God, the Lord of the Universe, who deserves all praise. 182
