HAST THOU, then, ever considered him who turns away [from remembering Us, and cares for no more than the life of this world,] 33 and gives a little, and then grudgingly? 34 Does he possess the knowledge of the Unseen, and therefore he sees? 35 Has he not been made acquainted with what was written in the scriptures of Moses? 36 And of Abraham who fulfilled his engagements?- 37 That no bearer of burdens will bear the burden of another 38 and that a man shall have to his account only as he has laboured, 39 and that in time [the nature of] all his striving will be shown [to him in its true light,] 40 and that he shall then be fully recompensed, 41 and that the final return is to your Lord, 42 And that He it is who maketh laugh, and maketh weep, 43 And that it is He Who causeth to die and causeth to live. 44 And that He createth the pair, the male and the female. 45 From a drop of liquid, when it is added? 46 And that upon Him is another bringing forth. 47 That it is He who makes you rich and contented; 48 and that He is the Lord of (the star) Sirius, 49 And that He destroyed the first [people of] 'Aad 50 and Thamood, and He did not spare them, 51 as well as the people of Noah before them - [since,] verily, they all had been most willful in their evildoing and most overweening 52 He plunged the villages 53 So there covered them that which did cover (i.e. torment with stones). 54 On which then of your Lord's signs do you cast doubt? 55 This [Prophet] is a warner like the former warners. 56 The Approaching Day has approached. 57 apart from God none can disclose it. 58 Will you, then, wonder at this? 59 Why do you laugh rather than weep? 60 while you make merry? 61 Rather, prostrate to Allah and worship Him. ۩ 62
