The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ When the inevitable event takes place, 1 There is no belying its coming to pass-- 2 Abasing exalting. 3 When the earth is shaken with a shaking [severe,] 4 and the mountains crumbled, 5 Turned to dust, floating in the air, 6 [on that Day,] then, shall you be [divided into] three kinds. 7 (First) those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 8 And those on the left hand; how miserable shall those on the left hand be! 9 And the Outstrippers, the Outstrippers 10 Those! they shall be the brought nigh, 11 in the beautiful Paradise. 12 (a throng of the ancients 13 and how few of the later folk) 14 On studded thrones. 15 reclining on them, arrayed face to face; 16 Youths of never-ending bloom will pass round to them 17 with goblets, jugs and cups of crystal clear wine 18 a drink by which their minds will not be clouded nor will it cause drunkenness; 19 they will also go about them with the fruits of which they may choose, 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire to eat; 21 And [with them will be their] companions pure, most beautiful of eye, 22 beautiful as pearls hidden in their shells. 23 as reward for their deeds. 24 Therein they shall hear no idle talk, no cause of sin, 25 Only the saying, "Peace! Peace". 26 NOW AS FOR those who have attained to righteousness - what of those who have attained to righteousness? 27 Midst lote-trees thornless. 28 Among Talh trees with flowers (or fruits) piled one above another,- 29 In shade long-extended, 30 By water flowing constantly, 31 And plenty of fruits. 32 undiminished and never denied 33 And [with them will be their] spouses, raised high: 34 Verily We! We have created those maidens by a creation. 35 Then We have made them virgins, 36 intensely loving and of matching age. 37 For those on the Right Hand. 38
