Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Has there come to you the narration of the overwhelming (i.e. the Day of Resurrection); 1 [Some] faces, that Day, will be humbled, 2 Labouring, wearied out, 3 they shall burn in a Scorching Fire; 4 and will be made to drink from a boiling spring, 5 no food for them but cactus thorn 6 which neither sustains, nor satisfy hunger. 7 In that day other faces will be calm, 8 well pleased with their striving, 9 They shall be in a Garden lofty: 10 wherein they will not hear any vain talk. 11 therein a running fountain, 12 and couches raised high, 13 and goblets set forth 14 And cushions lined up 15 and carpets spread out. 16 Have they not looked at how the camel is created, 17 And at the heaven, how it is raised? 18 And the hills, how they are set up? 19 how the earth was outstretched? 20 Then remind them! Thou art only a reminder; 21 you are not their keeper. 22 However, he who turns away and disbelieves - 23 Allah will punish them with the greatest punishment. 24 Surely to Us is their return; 25 Then verily on Us is their reckoning. 26
