The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Proclaim! (or read!) in the name of thy Lord and Cherisher, Who created- 1 Hath created man from a clot! 2 Read! And your Lord is the Most Generous, 3 who taught by the pen, 4 taught Man that he knew not. 5 No! [But] indeed, man transgresses 6 Because he sees himself self-sufficient. 7 Indeed towards your Lord only is the return. 8 Have you seen one who prevents 9 a servant [of God] from praying? 10 Do you think he is rightly guided, 11 and enjoins piety? 12 Have you seen if he denies and turns away - 13 Does he, then, not know that God sees [all]? 14 By no means! If he desist not We shall seize and deal him by the forelock 15 By the lying, the sinful forelock. 16 Then let him summon his council, 17 We also shall call the infernal guards. 18 (Muhammad), never yield to him! Prostrate yourself and try to come closer to God. ۩ 19
