O Ye apostles! eat the good things and work righteously; verily of that which ye work I am the Knower. 51 This community of yours is one community, and I am your Lord; so hold Me alone in fear. 52 But they (who claim to follow you) have torn their unity wide asunder, piece by piece, each group delighting in [but] what they themselves possess [by way of tenets]. 53 But leave them in their confused ignorance for a time. 54 Do they think that by what We aid them with of wealth and children, 55 We would hasten them on in every good? Nay, they do not understand. 56 Verily! Those who live in awe for fear of their Lord; 57 and believe in His messages 58 who consider nothing equal to their Lord, 59 who spend their property for the cause of God, and whose hearts are afraid of their return 60 it is they who vie with one another in doing good works and shall be the foremost in doing so. 61 And We task not any soul except according to its capacity, and with Us is a book speaking with truth, and they will not be wronged. 62 On the contrary, their hearts are in neglect of this and their works are different than those of the believers, the works that they are doing. 63 Until when We seize their affluent ones with punishment, at once they are crying [to Allah] for help. 64 Do not cry out today. Indeed, by Us you will not be helped. 65 Surely My signs have been rehearsed unto you, and upon your heel ye were wont to draw back. 66 Stiff-necked, discoursing thereof by night, reviling. 67 Have they not pondered over the Word (of Allah, i.e. what is sent down to the Prophet SAW), or has there come to them what had not come to their fathers of old? 68 Or know they not their messenger, and so reject him? 69 Or do they say, 'He is bedevilled'? Nay, he has brought them the truth, but most of them are averse from the truth. 70 But if the truth were in accord with their own likes and dislikes, the heavens and the earth would surely have fallen into ruin, and all that lives in them [would long ago have perished]! Nay, [in this divine writ] We have conveyed unto them all that they ought to bear in mind: and from this their reminder they [heedlessly] turn away! 71 Or, is it that thou askest of them any maintenance? The maintenance of thy Lord is better, and He is the Best of providers. 72 You are calling them to a Straight Way, 73 And verily those who believe not in the Hereafter are from the path deviating. 74 ۞ And even were We to show them mercy and remove whatever distress might befall them [in this life,] they would still persist in their overweening arrogance, blindly stumbling to and fro. 75 We inflicted Punishment on them, but they humbled not themselves to their Lord, nor do they submissively entreat (Him)!- 76 To the extent that when We opened the gate of a severe punishment for them, they thereupon lie despairingly in it. 77
