And recite to them the news of Abraham, 69 when he asked his father and his people, "What is that which you worship?" 70 They said, “We worship idols, and we keep squatting in seclusion before them.” 71 He asked: "Do they hear you when you call them 72 Or do they benefit or harm you? 73 They said: "Nay, but we found our fathers doing thus (what we do)." 74 Said [Abraham]: "Have you, then, ever considered what it is that you have been worshipping 75 you and your forefathers -- 76 “They are all my enemies, except the Lord Of The Creation.” 77 He created me and He will guide me. 78 He who gives me food and drink; 79 who, when I am sick, heals me; 80 He who will cause me to die and bring me back to life; 81 And who I aspire that He will forgive me my sin on the Day of Recompense." 82 O Lord, give me wisdom and admit me among the righteous, 83 "Grant me honourable mention on the tongue of truth among the latest (generations); 84 and make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss; 85 Forgive me and my father: He was surely among those who went astray. 86 And humiliate me not on the Day whereon people shall be raised. 87 The Day when neither wealth nor sons shall benefit 88 except him who comes before Allah with a pure heart; 89 And Paradise shall be brought forward for the godfearing, 90 And hell will appear plainly to the erring. 91 And it will be said to them: "Where are those (the false gods whom you used to set up as rivals with Allah) that you used to worship 92 besides God? Can they help you or even help themselves?" 93 The idol worshippers, the idols, the rebellious ones, 94 and Satan's legions, all together. 95 There they will quarrel with one another and the erring ones will say (to their deities): 96 "By God, we were most obviously astray 97 In equating you with the Lord of all the worlds; 98 It was nothing but the evildoers who led us astray. 99 so now we have no intercessors, 100 “Nor a caring friend.” 101 O that we might return again, and be among the believers!' 102 Verily there is a sign in this, but many of them do not believe. 103 And verily thy Lord! He is the Mighty, the Merciful. 104
