In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By those [angels] lined up in rows 1 and the scarers scaring 2 By those (angels) who bring the Book and the Quran from Allah to mankind [Tafsir Ibn Kathir]. 3 surely your God is One, 4 Lord of the heavens and of the earth and all between them, and Lord of every point at the rising of the sun! 5 Surely We have adorned the nearest heaven with an adornment, the stars, 6 to protect them from the rebellious satan. 7 they listen not to the High Council, for they are pelted from every side, 8 And kept far away. There is perpetual punishment for them, 9 except such as snatches a fragment, and he is pursued by a piercing flame. 10 So ask them for a pronouncement -- Are they stronger in constitution, or those We created? We created them of clinging clay. 11 No, you marvel, while they scoff. 12 And when they are admonished, they receive not admonition. 13 And seek to scoff when they behold a portent. 14 And they say: this Qur'an is naught but magic manifest. 15 They say, "Shall we be brought to life again after we die and turn into dust and bones? 16 And our forefathers? 17 Say, "Yes, and you will be [rendered] contemptible." 18 It will be but one Shout, then see, they are watching 19 They will say, "Woe to us!" (They will be told), "This is the day of receiving recompense". 20 "(Yes,) this is the Day of Judgement you had called a lie." 21

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
