The News (Al-Naba')
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej) before The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ OF WHAT ARE they asking one another? 1 They quarrel about the great news 2 Concerning which they are in disagreement. 3 Indeed, they shall know! 4 Again, no indeed; they shall soon know! 5 Have We not made the earth a resting place? 6 The mountains tent-pins? 7 And We have created you in pairs, 8 And We made your sleep to be rest (to you), 9 The night a covering, 10 And We have made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong ones, 12 and have placed [therein the sun,] a lamp full of blazing splendour. 13 And then sent down hard rain from the water bearing clouds. 14 so that We may bring forth thereby grain and a variety of plants, 15 And orchards full of trees and interlacing boughs. 16 Verily the Day of Sorting out is a thing appointed, 17 the day the Trumpet is blown, and you shall come in troops, 18 and when the skies are opened and become [as wide-flung] gates; 19 The mountains put in motion turning into a mirage. 20 Indeed hell is lying in ambush. 21 The rebels' abode, 22 Where they will remain for aeons, 23 They will not feel cold nor taste any drink 24 only burning despair and ice-cold darkness: 25 An appropriate recompense. 26 For indeed they did not look forward to any reckoning, 27 and roundly denied Our Signs as false. 28 We have kept account of everything in a book. 29 So taste (of that which ye have earned). No increase do We give you save of torment. 30

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
