The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By those that pluck out vehemently 1 By the angels who release with gentle release. 2 and float [through space] with floating serene, 3 and the outstrippers (angels), outstripping, 4 and by those who regulate events. 5 On the day when the trembling one will tremble. (The disbelievers will certainly taste the punishment.) 6 What must happen afterwards shall follow it. 7 On that day hearts beat painfully 8 while eyes will be downcast. 9 They say: Shall we indeed be restored to (our) first state? 10 even though we may have become [a heap of] crumbling bones?" 11 They say, "That, then, would be a losing return." 12 But all it will take is a single blast, 13 to bring them out of their graves and back to life on the earth's surface. 14 Has the story of Moses come to you 15 When his Lord called him in the holy valley of Tuwa. 16 (Saying:) Go thou unto Pharaoh - Lo! he hath rebelled - 17 And say to him: "Would you purify yourself (from the sin of disbelief by becoming a believer)", 18 [If so,] then I shall guide thee towards [a cognition of] thy Sustainer, so that [henceforth] thou wilt stand in awe [of Him].'" 19 He showed him the mighty sign, 20 but he denied it and refused [the faith]. 21 Then turned he away in haste, 22 And he summoned all his people, 23 Then he said: I am your lord, the most high. 24 And thereupon God took him to task, [and made him] a warning example in the life to come as well as in this world. 25 Lo! herein is indeed a lesson for him who feareth. 26
