▼ 15 The Hijjr Valley
Al-Hijjr 6 of 6
Surely the people of al-Hijr also rejected the Messengers, calling them liars. 80 We sent them Our Signs, but they persisted in turning away from them. 81 They carved out dwellings in the mountains, and lived in security -- 82 So the rumbling overtook them in the morning; 83 that they earned did not avail them. 84 We did not create the heavens and the earth, and what is between them except in truth. The Hour is sure to come, therefore, forgive them with a gracious pardon. 85 Your Lord is the Creator, the Knower. 86 And We have certainly given you, [O Muhammad], seven of the often repeated [verses] and the great Qur'an. 87 Do not yearn for other people's property and wives and do not grieve (that they do not believe). Be kind to the believers. 88 and say, 'Surely, I am the manifest warner.' 89 Like (those) We had sent to those schismatics who slandered their Books 90 Those who made the Quran into shreds. 91 Now by thy Lord, We shall surely question them all together 92 Of what they used to do. 93 So declare to them what We have enjoined, and turn away from idolaters. 94 Indeed We suffice you against these mockers. 95 and those who set up other gods with Allah, indeed, they will soon know. 96 We are well aware that you are disheartened by what they say. 97 So hallow thou the praise of thy Lord, and be thou of the prostrate. 98 and worship thy Sustainer till death comes to thee. 99

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
