The News (Al-Naba')
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej) before The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ Concerning what are they disputing? 1 About the great news, (i.e. Islamic Monotheism, the Quran, which Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) brought and the Day of Resurrection, etc.), 2 concerning which they have disputes. 3 Nay, but in time they will come to understand [it]! 4 Surely, they will soon find out the truth! 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 and fixed the mountains like pegs, 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 And We have made your sleep as a rest. 9 The night a covering, 10 And have made the day for livelihood. 11 And We made above you seven strong ones, 12 And have made (therein) a shinning lamp (sun). 13 And then sent down hard rain from the water bearing clouds. 14 That We may produce from it grain and vegetation, 15 and gardens luxuriant. 16 Verily, the Day of Decision is a fixed time, 17 It is a Day whereon the trumpet will be blown, and ye will come in multitudes. 18 and heaven is opened, having gates, 19 The mountains will be driven away and become like mirages. 20 Indeed hell is lying in ambush. 21 A home for the rebellious. 22 They will tarry therein for ages. 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink. 24 save boiling water and pus 25 , A fitting reward. 26 Verily they were wont not to look for a reckoning. 27 And they belied Our revelations with strong belying. 28 And everything We have recorded in a book. 29 So taste you (the results of your evil actions); no increase shall We give you, except in torment. 30
