The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
When the sun (with its spacious light) is folded up; 1 when the stars shall scatter away, 2 And when the mountains are driven. 3 the young barren camels are abandoned, 4 When the wild beasts are herded together (in the human habitations); 5 And when the seas rise, 6 And when the souls are paired 7 and when the girl-child buried alive shall be asked: 8 for what sin she was slain, 9 when the records of men's deeds are laid open, 10 And when the sky is stripped away 11 and when Hell is set ablaze, 12 And when the Garden is brought near;- 13 (Then) every soul will know what it hath made ready. 14 So verily, I swear by the planets that recede (i.e. disappear during the day and appear during the night). 15 And by the planets that move swiftly and hide themselves, 16 and the night as it darkly falls, 17 and the morn as it softly breathes: 18 That this is indeed the word of an honoured Messenger, 19 Owner of strength, of established dignity with the Lord of the Throne. 20 Obeyed (by the angels), trustworthy there (in the heavens). 21 Your companion is not possessed; 22 Surely he beheld Him on the clear horizon. 23 He is not chary of making public what is unknown. 24 The Quran is not the word of condemned satan. 25 Whither then will you go? 26 This is merely a reminder to all mankind; 27 to everyone of you who wills to walk a straight way. 28 But you cannot will it unless God, the Lord of the Universe, so wills it [to show you that way]. 29
