Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Hath there come unto thee the story of the Enveloping Event? 1 Some faces that Day shall be downcast with fear, 2 labouring, toilworn, 3 about to enter a glowing fire, 4 given to drink from a boiling spring. 5 no food for them except thorny plants 6 which gives no strength and neither stills hunger. 7 (Other) faces, that Day, will be joyful, 8 Pleased with their striving,- 9 in a garden sublime, 10 Where they shall neither hear harmful speech nor falsehood, 11 Countless springs will flow therein, 12 And within it are couches placed on high, 13 And goblets ready placed! 14 And cushions ranged 15 And carpets spread out. 16 Will they not then consider the camels, how they are created? 17 And the heaven, how it is raised? 18 And the mountains – how they have been established? 19 And the earth, how it was spread out? 20 Therefore do remind, for you are only a reminder. 21 You are not charged to oversee them. 22 But whoso is averse and disbelieveth, 23 Allah will punish him with a mighty Punishment, 24 Verily unto Us is their return. 25 Then indeed, upon Us is their account. 26
