۞ And indeed We bestowed Ibrahim with guidance from the beginning, and We were Aware of him. 51 When he said to his father and his people, “What are these idols before whom you squat (worshipping)?” 52 They said, 'We found our fathers serving them.' 53 He said: 'Truly, you and your fathers are in clear error' 54 They said: Bringest thou unto us the truth, or art thou some jester? 55 He said: "Nay, your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth, Who created them and of that I am one of the witnesses. 56 "And by Allah, I shall plot a plan (to destroy) your idols after you have gone away and turned your backs." 57 So he broke them to pieces, (all) except the biggest of them, that they might turn to it. 58 (When they saw the idols in this state) they said: "Who has done this to our gods? Surely he is one of the wrong-doers." 59 Some of them said: "We heard a youth called Abraham speak (ill) of them." 60 They said: Then bring him (hither) before the people's eyes that they may testify. 61 "Did you do this to our gods, O Abraham?" they enquired. 62 He said: But this, their chief hath done it. So question them, if they can speak. 63 So they returned one to another saying, 'Surely, it is you who are the harmdoers' 64 And they were utterly confounded, and they said: Well thou knowest that these speak not. 65 (So Abraham) said: "Then why do you worship something apart from God that cannot profit you or do you harm? 66 “Disgrace be upon you and all the idols whom you worship instead of Allah; so do you not have sense?” 67 They cried: Burn him and stand by your gods, if ye will be doing. 68 But We said, "Fire! Be cool and a means of safety for Abraham." 69 And they wished to cause him harm, so We made them the greatest of losers. 70 We saved him and Lot, and brought them to the land which We had blessed for all the worlds. 71 And We gave him Ishaq and Yaqoub, a son's son, and We made (them) all good. 72 We made them leaders who guided people by Our command. We revealed to them the doing of good, observance of prayer and the giving of alms and Us alone did they worship. 73 And Lut! We vouchsafed unto him judgment and knowledge, and We delivered him out of the city which had been working foul deeds; verily they were a people evil, wicked. 74 And We took him into Our mercy; surely he was of the good. 75
