Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ THE CONCRETE REALITY. 1 How awesome that laying-bare of the truth! 2 And what can make you know what is the Inevitable Reality? 3 Thamud and 'Aad denied the Striking Calamity. 4 So regarding the Thamud, they were destroyed by a terrible scream. 5 and the Ad were destroyed by a furiously raging wind-storm 6 Which He sent to assail them for seven nights and eight days running. You should have seen the people prostrate like the decayed trunks of date-palm trees. 7 Now dost thou see any remnant of them? 8 Similarly, Pharaoh, and those before him, and the ruined villages, sinned 9 and rebelled against their Sustainer's apostles: and so He took them to task with a punishing grasp exceedingly severe! 10 Indeed, when the water overflowed, We carried your ancestors in the sailing ship 11 so that We might make it a reminder for you and so that attentive ears might retain it. 12 When a single blast is blown on the trumpet, 13 and the earth and the mountains are carried aloft and are crushed to bits at one stroke, 14 on that Day the Great Event will come to pass. 15 And the sky will be rent asunder, for on that Day it will be so frail. 16 and the angels [will appear] at its ends, and above them, eight will bear aloft on that Day the throne of thy Sustainer's almightiness… 17 That Day, you will be exhibited [for judgement]; not hidden among you is anything concealed. 18 Then he who is given his record in his right hand will exclaim, "Here is my record, read it. 19 Certainly I thought that I should encounter my reckoning.' 20 He is therefore in the desired serenity. 21 in a lofty garden, 22 Clusters whereof shall be near at hand. 23 Eat and drink at ease for that which you have sent on before you in days past! 24 And whoever is given his book in his left hand – he will say, “Alas, if only my account were not given to me!” 25 and that we would never knew what our records contained. 26 I wish death had put an end to me. 27 "Of no profit to me has been my wealth! 28 [and] all my power of argument has died away from me!" 29 [Thereupon the command will go forth:] "Lay hold of him, and shackle him, 30 Then into Hellfire drive him. 31 Then into a chain whose length is seventy cubits insert him." 32 He did not believe in God the supreme, 33 Nor did he encourage the feeding of the poor. 34 Today he shall have no loyal friend here, 35 nor any food except foul pus 36 that none but sinners eat' 37
