Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Has the story reached thee of the overwhelming (Event)? 1 Faces on that Day shall be downcast, 2 laboring, wornout, 3 They will enter in the hot blazing Fire, 4 and will be made to drink from a boiling spring, 5 No food for them save bitter thorn-fruit 6 Which shall neither nourish nor avail against hunger. 7 Faces on that Day shall be delighted, 8 Glad with their endeavour (for their good deeds which they did in this world, along with the true Faith of Islamic Monotheism). 9 In a lofty Paradise. 10 wherein they shall hear no vain talk. 11 Therein shall be a spring running! 12 and couches raised high, 13 and goblets placed ready, 14 and cushions arrayed 15 And carpets ready spread, 16 Do they not then ponder how the clouds were formed; 17 And the heaven - how it has been raised? 18 And the mountains, how they were fixed; 19 And at the earth, how it is spread out? 20 So remind them (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)), you are only a one who reminds. 21 You are not at all a guardian over them. 22 However, he who turns away and disbelieves - 23 Allah will chastise him with the greatest chastisement. 24 Indeed only towards Us is their return 25 Then indeed only upon Us is their reckoning. 26
