And certainly Haroun had said to them before: O my people! you are only tried by it, and surely your Lord is the Beneficent Allah, therefore follow me and obey my order. 90 But they answered: "By no means shall we cease to worship it until Moses returns to us." 91 Musa said: O Harun! what prevented thee, when thou sawest them going astray. 92 From following me? Then have you disobeyed my order?" 93 [Aaron] said, "O son of my mother, do not seize [me] by my beard or by my head. Indeed, I feared that you would say, 'You caused division among the Children of Israel, and you did not observe [or await] my word.' " 94 Moses asked, "Samiri, what were your motives?" 95 He said: I saw (Jibreel) what they did not see, so I took a handful (of the dust) from the footsteps of the messenger, then I threw it in the casting; thus did my soul commend to me 96 Moses said, "Begone! It shall be your lot to say throughout your life, "Do not touch me," and you will be faced with a fate from which there will be no escape. Now look at your deity to which you have become so devoted: we shall burn it up, and then scatter it into the sea. 97 Your only deity is God - He save whom there is no deity, [and who] embraces all things within His knowledge!" 98 And so We narrate to you the stories of the past, and We have given you a remembrance from Us. 99 All who shall turn away from it will, verily, bear a [heavy] burden on the Day of Resurrection: 100 which they shall bear forever. It will be a grievous burden for them on the Day of Judgement, 101 On the day when the trumpet shall be blown, and We will gather the guilty, blue-eyed, on that day 102 In whispers will they speak to each other (saying): "You stayed not longer than ten (days)." 103 We know well what they will say when the most upright among them will say: "You did not tarry more than a day." 104
