Vanity (Al-Zukhruf)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Ha. Mim. 1 By the Scripture which maketh plain, 2 We have made it an Arabic Koran in order that you understand. 3 And surely it is in the original of the Book with Us, truly elevated, full of wisdom. 4 So shall We divert the advice away from you, because you are a nation that exceeds the limits? 5 And how many a Prophet have We sent amongst the men of old. 6 And whenever any Prophet came to them, they only mocked at him. 7 We therefore destroyed the people who were more forceful than these, and the example of the earlier ones has already gone by. 8 If thou wert to question them, 'Who created the heavens and the earth?' They would be sure to reply, 'they were created by (Him), the Exalted in Power, Full of Knowledge';- 9 Who has made for you the earth like a bed, and has made for you roads therein, in order that you may find your way, 10 And Who sendeth down water from the sky in (due) measure, and We revive a dead land therewith. Even so will ye be brought forth; 11 That has created pairs in all things, and has made for you ships and cattle on which ye ride, 12 That ye may mount upon their backs, and may remember your Lord's favour when ye mount thereon, and may say: Glorified be He Who hath subdued these unto us, and we were not capable (of subduing them); 13 surely unto our Lord we are turning.' 14 Yet they have assigned to Him a part of His own servants! Man is dearly unthankful. 15
