Dispatched (Al-Mursalaat)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the winds sent forth in swift succession, 1 By the raging hurricanes, 2 And those that revive by quickening, 3 And those that distinguish distinctly, 4 By those who bring down the Reminder, 5 To clear or to warn. 6 BEHOLD, all that you are told to expect will surely come to pass. 7 When the stars are extinguished, 8 and when the sky is rent asunder, 9 and the mountains scattered, 10 And when the messengers are brought unto their time appointed - 11 For what day is that time fixed? 12 For the Day of sorting out (the men of Paradise from the men destined for Hell). 13 And what do you know, what the Day of Decision is! 14 Woe on that Day to those that give the lie to the Truth! 15 Did We not destroy the former generations? 16 We shall then send the latter after them. 17 As such shall We deal with the sinners. 18 Woe on that Day to those who belied it! 19 Created We you not of water despicable, 20 that We laid within a sure lodging 21 For a certain appointed time, 22 We determined; excellent determiners are We. 23 Woe on that day to the rejecters. 24 Have We not made the earth a receptacle? 25 The living and the dead, 26 And have placed therein firm, and tall mountains; and have given you to drink sweet water? 27 Woe that day unto those who cry it lies! 28 Walk on to that which you called a lie. 29 Depart unto the shadow falling threefold, 30 (Which yet is) no relief nor shelter from the flame. 31 It will throw out sparks as logs of wood 32 As though they were camels yellow tawny. 33 Ruin is for the deniers on that day! 34 They will not be able to speak that day, 35 Nor are they suffered to put forth excuses. 36 Woe that day unto those who cry it lies! 37 Such is the Day of Decision. We will gather you with the ancients. 38 and if you [think that you] have a subterfuge left, try to outwit Me!" 39 On that day, woe would be upon those who have rejected God's revelations! 40
