And when We said to the angels, 'Bow yourselves to Adam'; so they bowed themselves, save Iblis; he refused. 116 Then We said, 'Adam, surely this is an enemy to thee and thy wife. So let him not expel you both from the Garden, so that thou art unprosperous. 117 Verily you will have no hunger or nakedness there, 118 nor face thirst or scorching heat." 119 But Satan whispered evil to him: he said, "O Adam! shall I lead thee to the Tree of Eternity and to a kingdom that never decays?" 120 Then the two of them ate the fruit of that tree and their shameful parts became revealed to each other, and they began to cover themselves with the leaves from the Garden. Thus Adam disobeyed his Lord and strayed into error. 121 Thereafter his Lord exalted him, accepted his repentance, and bestowed guidance upon him, 122 (Allah) said:"Get you down (from the Paradise to the earth), both of you, together, some of you are an enemy to some others. Then if there comes to you guidance from Me, then whoever follows My Guidance shall neither go astray, nor fall into distress and misery. 123 And whoever turns away from My reminder, his shall be a straitened life, and We will raise him on the day of resurrection, blind. 124 and he will ask, "Lord, why have You raised me up blind, while I possessed sight before?" 125 God shall say, 'Even so it is. Our signs came unto thee, and thou didst forget them; and so today thou art forgotten.' 126 Thus do We requite him who transgresses and does not believe in the signs of your Lord (during the life of the world); and surely the punishment of the Hereafter is even more terrible and more enduring. 127 Is it not a guidance to them, how many generations We destroyed before them in whose dwelling-places they walk? Surely in that are signs for men possessing reason. 128
