Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ The Inevitable Calamity! 1 What is the sure calamity! 2 And what will make thee realise what the Sure Reality is? 3 THE LIE gave [the tribes of] Thamud and 'Ad to [all tidings of] that sudden calamity! 4 So regarding the Thamud, they were destroyed by a terrible scream. 5 And as for A’ad, they were destroyed by a severe thundering windstorm. 6 Which He made to prevail against them for seven nights and eight days unremittingly, so that you might have seen the people therein prostrate as if they were the trunks of hollow palms. 7 Then do you see of them any remains? 8 Pharaoh likewise, and those before him, and the Subverted Cities -- they committed error, 9 They therefore disobeyed the Noble Messengers of their Lord – so He seized them with an intense seizure. 10 When the water rose in flood, We bore you in the ark, 11 as a lesson for you, but only attentive ears will retain it. 12 Then, when one blast is sounded on the Trumpet, 13 And the earth and the mountains are lifted and leveled with one blow - 14 Then on that Day, the Resurrection will occur, 15 when the sky will be rent asunder, the grip holding it together having loosened on that Day, 16 And the angels will be on its sides; and on that day, eight angels will carry the Throne of your Lord above them. 17 The Day whereon ye shall be mustered nothing hidden by you shall be hidden. 18 Then as for him who is given his book in his right hand, he will say: Lo! read my book: 19 Verily I was sure that I would be handed over my account.” 20 They will have a pleasant life 21 In a Garden lofty. 22 with clusters of fruit within easy reach. 23 (It will be said): 'Eat and drink with a good appetite because of what you did in days long passed' 24 But as for him who is given his record in his left hand, he will say: Oh, would that I had not been given my book 25 And I had not known what my account was: 26 Oh, would that this [death of mine] had been the end of me! 27 My wealth has availed me nothing: 28 I am bereft of power." 29 Seize him and fetter him, 30 and then let him enter hell, 31 Then into a chain whose length is seventy cubits insert him." 32 Lo! He used not to believe in Allah the Tremendous, 33 Nor urged others to feed the poor. 34 On this day, they will have no friends 35 Nor any food except filth from the washing of wounds, 36 which no one will eat except the sinners. 37
