The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
56 verses, revealed in Mecca after Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil) before The Key (Al-Faatehah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
O you (Muhammad SAW) enveloped (in garments)! 1 Arise and warn, 2 And thine Lord magnify! 3 And thy garments keep free from stain! 4 And uncleanliness avoid 5 And do not favour others in order to receive more. 6 And persevere in the way of your Lord. 7 Then, when the Trumpet is sounded (i.e. its second blowing); 8 Surely that day will be a day of anguish, 9 For the disbelievers - not easy. 10 Leave to Me the one, whom I have created all by Myself, 11 And give him vast riches, 12 and sons that stand in witness. 13 To whom I made (life) smooth and comfortable! 14 and yet, he greedily desires that I give him even more! 15 By no means; he is stubbornly opposed to Our Signs. 16 I will constrain him to a hard ascent. 17 Surely he reflected and guessed, 18 death seize him, how he determined! 19 Again, ruin seize him, how did he hatch a scheme? 20 He then dared to lift his gaze. 21 Then frowned and grimaced. 22 Then he turned back and was arrogant 23 Then he said: "This is nothing but magic from that of old; 24 'this is nothing but mortal speech.' 25 Him shall I fling unto the burning. 26 - Ah, what will convey unto thee what that burning is! - 27 It leaves nothing, nor does it spare; 28 Burning the skins! 29 Over it are nineteen [angels]. 30 And We have not made the wardens of the fire others than angels, and We have not made their number but as a trial for those who disbelieve, that those who have been given the book may be certain and those who believe may increase in faith, and those who have been given the book and the believers may not doubt, and that those in whose hearts is a disease and the unbelievers may say: What does Allah mean by this parable? Thus does Allah make err whom He pleases, and He guides whom He pleases, and none knows the hosts of your Lord but He Himself; and this is naught but a reminder to the mortals. 31
