The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
WOE UNTO THOSE who give short measure: 1 Who, when they take a measure from people, take in full. 2 But if they give by measure or by weight to them, they cause loss. 3 Do they not know that they are bound to be raised from the dead 4 on a great day 5 A Day when (all) mankind will stand before the Lord of the Worlds? 6 Nay! most surely the record of the wicked is in the Sijjin. 7 Would that you knew what Sijin is!? 8 (It is) a marked Book. 9 Woe, that Day, to the deniers, 10 who cry lies to the Day of Doom; 11 Yet none gives the lie to it except the transgressor immersed in sin; 12 When Our verses are recited to him, he says: 'Fictitious tales of the ancients' 13 By no means! Aye! encrusted upon their hearts is that which they have been earning. 14 No indeed, on that Day they shall be veiled from their Lord. 15 Then lo! they verily will burn in hell, 16 Further, it will be said to them: "This is the (reality) which ye rejected as false! 17 No! Indeed, the record of the righteous is in 'illiyyun. 18 And what will explain to thee what 'Illiyun is? 19 It is a (repository of) distinctly written record 20 Which is witnessed by those brought near [to Allah]. 21 The righteous shall indeed be blissful, 22 On adorned couches, observing. 23 You will find in their faces the brightness of bliss. 24 They will be given to drink of pure wine, sealed. 25 With a sealing of musk, which those who aspire for the best should desire, -- 26 for it is composed of all that is most exalting 27 a spring at which those drawn close to God will drink. 28 The sinners had been laughing at the believers. 29 and whenever they pass by them, they wink at one another [derisively]; 30 And when they went back to their people turned to make fun of them; 31 And when they saw them, they said: Most surely these are in error; 32 And withal, they have no call to watch over [the beliefs of] others... 33 So today the believers are laughing at the unbelievers, 34 On high thrones, watching. 35 Are not the disbelievers paid (fully) for what they used to do? 36
