The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
I CALL TO WITNESS those who dive and drag, 1 and those that draw out violently, 2 and by [the clouds] that swim serenely and 3 And by those that press forward as in a race (i.e. the angels or stars or the horses, etc.). 4 And direct affairs by command, 5 On the day when the first trumpet sound blasts 6 What must happen afterwards shall follow it. 7 Many a heart will flutter on that day! 8 while eyes will be downcast. 9 They shall say, 'What, are we being restored as we were before? 10 What, when we are bones old and wasted?' 11 and they say, "That indeed would be a losing return." 12 But it shall be only a single scare, 13 And they will wake up suddenly. 14 Has Moses' story reached you? 15 His Lord called to him in the Sacred Valley of Towa, 16 "Go unto Pharaoh - for, verily, he has transgressed all bounds of what is right 17 Then say: Have you (a desire) to purify yourself: 18 that I might guide you to your Lord, so that you fear (Him)." 19 And he showed him the greatest sign, 20 but he denied it and refused [the faith]. 21 Then he turned away, deliberating, 22 then he mustered 23 Yet to a rich man, 24 So Allah seized him (and made him) an example for the after (life) and for the former. 25 Verily, in this is an instructive admonition for whosoever fears Allah. 26
