The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
When the sunlight is rolled up. 1 when the stars shall scatter away, 2 when the mountains shall be set moving, 3 And when full-term she-camels are neglected 4 and when all beasts are gathered together, 5 the oceans are brought to a boil, 6 and when all human beings are coupled [with their deeds,] 7 when the buried infant shall be asked 8 for what crime she had been slain, 9 And when the books are spread, 10 and when heaven is laid bare, 11 And when the Scorch shall be made to blaze, 12 And when the Garden is brought nigh, 13 (Then) every soul will know what it hath made ready. 14 BUT NAY! I call to witness the revolving stars, 15 the planets that run their course and set, 16 and sit during the day, or by the darkening night 17 The rising dawn, 18 it is indeed the word of an Honorable Messenger, 19 Mighty, established in the presence of the Lord of the Throne, 20 there he is obeyed and held trustworthy. 21 And your companion is not [at all] mad. 22 Surely he beheld Him on the clear horizon. 23 And Muhammad is not a withholder of [knowledge of] the unseen. 24 Nor is this the word of a stoned satan. 25 Where then are you going? 26 That is but an advice to the entire creation! 27 Unto whomsoever of you willeth to walk straight. 28 But ye shall not will except as Allah wills,- the Cherisher of the Worlds. 29
