Al-Shams

The Sun (Al-Shams)

15 verses, revealed in Mecca after Destiny (Al-Qadr) before The Galaxies (Al-Burooj)

Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

I swear by the sun and its brilliance, 1 And the moon when she followeth him, 2 and by the day as it reveals its glory 3 and by the night when it enshrouds him! 4 And by the heaven and Him Who built it; 5 by the earth and that (Power) which spread it out 6 Consider the human self, and how it is formed in accordance with what it is meant to be, 7 and inspired it with knowledge of evil and piety, 8 He has succeeded who purifies it, 9 And he will indeed fail who corrupts it. 10 Thamud belied in their exorbitance. 11 when the most wicked of them broke forth, 12 although God's apostle had told them, "It is a she-camel belonging to God, so let her drink [and do her no harm]!" 13 Then they belied him and they hamstrung her; wherefore their Lord overwhelmed them for their crime, and made it equal. 14 And He does not fear its coming behind (to take vengeance). 15

Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
