The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By the Mount Sinai, 1 And the Book written 2 on wide-open scrolls. 3 And by oath of the Inhabited House. 4 And the lofty roof. 5 And by the Ocean filled with Swell;- 6 surely thy Lord's chastisement is about to fall; 7 Of it there is no averter. 8 Upon the Day when the heaven spins dizzily 9 and the mountains quickly move. 10 Woe on that Day to those who deny the truth, 11 those who are in plunging, playing. 12 The day on which they shall be driven away to the fire of hell with violence. 13 This is the fire which you used to deny. 14 What, is this magic, or is it you that do not see? 15 “Enter it – now whether you patiently bear it or are impatient – it is the same for you; for you is a recompense only for what you used to do.” 16 [But,] verily, the God-conscious will find themselves [on that Day] in gardens and in bliss, 17 rejoicing in whatever their Lord has given them. Their Lord has saved them from the torment of the Fire, 18 They will be told, "Eat and drink to your heart's delight for what you have done". 19 Reclining on thrones, in rows; and We have wedded them to maidens with gorgeous eyes. 20 And those who believe and whose progeny follow them in belief. We shall cause their progeny to join them, and We shall not diminish unto them aught of their own work. Every man is for that which he hath earned a pledge. 21 We shall provide them in abundance with such fruit and meat as they desire. 22 They will exchange cups of wine free of (incitement to) pleasantry or sin. 23 ۞ and youths, of their own, shall pass among them as if they were hidden pearls. 24 They will turn to one another ask questions, 25 saying, "We were afraid while in the world. 26 Wherefore Allah hath obliged us, and hath protected us from the torment of the Scorch. 27 We used to pray to Him erstwhile; He is the just and merciful. 28
