The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ When the inevitable event comes, 1 And there can be no denying of its befalling. 2 Degrading (some) and exalting (others); 3 When the earth is violently shaken 4 And the mountains will be crushed, blown to bits. 5 So that they will become floating dust particles. 6 And you (all) will be in three kinds (i.e. separate groups). 7 Those on the Right -- how blessed are those on the Right! 8 And those on the left – how (wretched) are those on the left! 9 And those foremost [(in Islamic Faith of Monotheism and in performing righteous deeds) in the life of this world on the very first call for to embrace Islam,] will be foremost (in Paradise). 10 They shall be near-stationed (to their Lord), 11 In gardens of tranquility; 12 Many of them will be from the ancient people 13 and a lesser number from the later generations. 14 [They will be seated] on gold-encrusted thrones of happiness, 15 reclining upon them, facing one another [in love]. 16 (and there) shall wait on them immortal youths 17 with goblets and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 by which their minds will not be clouded and which will not make them drunk; 19 Also, they will be served with the fruits of their choice 20 And the meat of fowl, from whatever they desire. 21 And (there are) fair ones with wide, lovely eyes, 22 like pearls preserved in their shells, 23 a recompense for that they laboured. 24 There hear they no vain speaking nor recrimination 25 Except the saying, “Peace, peace.” 26 And those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 27 Amid thornless lote-trees, 28 and clustered bananas, 29 and shade extended, 30 near to flowing water 31 And fruits numberless, 32 unfailing and not forbidden. 33 And raised couches; 34 Verily, We have created them (maidens) of special creation. 35 and made them virgins, 36 full of love, well-matched 37 For the fellows on the right hand. 38
