He Frowned ('Abasa)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and then turned away 1 because the blind man approached him! 2 How could you know? Perhaps he would cleanse himself, 3 Or that he might receive admonition, and the teaching might profit him? 4 As for him who regardeth himself self-sufficient 5 To him you attend; 6 And not upon you [is any blame] if he will not be purified. 7 But as to him who came to you running. 8 and who has fear of God, 9 him didst thou disregard! 10 Nay, (do not do like this), indeed it (these Verses of this Quran) are an admonition, 11 and so, whoever is willing may remember Him 12 (It is) in Records held (greatly) in honour (Al-Lauh Al-Mahfuz). 13 Exalted and holy, 14 In the hands of scribes 15 noble and most virtuous. 16 Man is (self-)destroyed: how ungrateful! 17 Of what did He create him? 18 Of a sperm-drop He created him, and determined him, 19 then the way eased for him, 20 Then He causes his death and provides a grave for him. 21 and He will resurrect him whenever He wants. 22 No! Man has not yet accomplished what He commanded him. 23 Then let mankind look at his food - 24 That We watered it in abundance. 25 and then We cleave the earth [with new growth,] cleaving it asunder, 26 And cause the grain to grow therein 27 and vines and edible plants, 28 And olive and palm trees 29 thickly planted gardens, 30 and fruit and pastures, 31 for you and for your herds to delight in. 32 So when the deafening Shout arrives, 33 upon the day when a man shall flee from his brother, 34 mother, father, 35 wife and sons, 36 on that Day each will be occupied with his own business, making him oblivious of all save himself. 37 Many a face will be glittering on that day. 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 but some faces will be covered with dust 40 enveloped by darkness. 41 It is they, the disbelievers, the sinners. 42
