The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When the Event (i.e. the Day of Resurrection) befalls. 1 Then none will be able to deny its occurrence. 2 It will abase some and exalt others. 3 When the earth is shaken with a shock 4 And the mountains shall be crumbled to atoms, 5 So that they become a scattered dust, 6 And you (all) will be in three kinds (i.e. separate groups). 7 Then the companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 8 And those on the left – how (wretched) are those on the left! 9 But the foremost shall be [they who in life were] the foremost [in faith and good works]: 10 It is they who are the close ones. 11 In Gardens of Bliss: 12 A [large] company of the former peoples 13 and a few from later times. 14 on lavish couches 15 facing one another. 16 There will circulate among them young boys made eternal 17 With cups, and jugs, and a glass from the flowing wine, 18 which will not cause them any intoxication or illness. 19 they will also go about them with the fruits of which they may choose, 20 And the flesh of fowl such as they desire. 21 And wide eyed houris 22 Like unto preserved pearls. 23 A Reward for the deeds of their past (life). 24 Not frivolity will they hear therein, nor any taint of ill,- 25 Only the saying, "Peace! Peace". 26 As for the people of the right hand, how happy they will be! 27 Among thorn-less lote-trees. 28 and serried acacias, 29 and spreading shade 30 And water poured out 31 And fruits numberless, 32 undiminished and never denied 33 And on Thrones (of Dignity), raised high. 34 and their spouses We shall have brought them into being afresh, 35 And made them virgins. 36 Loving, equals in age, 37 with those who have attained to righteousness: 38
