The News (Al-Naba')
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej) before The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ About what are they asking one another? 1 They quarrel about the great news 2 About which they are in disagreement. 3 Indeed they will come to know soon; 4 Verily, verily they shall soon (come to) know! 5 Have We not made the earth an expanse, 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 and created you in pairs (as men and women), 8 And have appointed your sleep for repose, 9 The night a covering, 10 And the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And (have We not) built over you the seven firmaments, 12 And have appointed a dazzling lamp, 13 And We sent down rain from water-laden clouds pouring in torrents 14 so that We may bring forth thereby grain and a variety of plants, 15 And gardens of thick growth. 16 VERILY, the Day of Distinction [between the true and the false] has indeed its appointed time: 17 On that Day when the trumpet shall be sounded, you shall come in droves, 18 And the heaven shall be opened so that it shall be all openings, 19 And the mountains will be moved – they will therefore become like mirages. 20 Indeed, Gehenna (Hell) has become an ambush, 21 A place of resort for the inordinate, 22 In it shall they remain for a long time. 23 Neither coolness shall they taste therein nor any [thirst-quenching] drink 24 But boiling and intensely cold water, 25 , A fitting reward. 26 For lo! they looked not for a reckoning; 27 and they absolutely belied Our verses, 28 And everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 So taste (the fruit of your deeds). We shall only increase your torment. 30

كيف تعمل منظومة تمارين الحفظ؟ عند أدنى مستوى 0، تكون كل الكلمات ظاهرة. بينما يُخفي أعلى مستوى 9 كل الكلمات. فكيف تعمل المستويات المتوسطة، مثل 3، على سبيل المثال؟ قد تعتقد بأن المنظومة تخفي 3 من كل تسع كلمات بدقة. ليس تماما! في المستوى 3، لكل كلمة فرصة اختفاء بنسبة 3 من 9، و6 من 9 لتكون ظاهرة. بمعنى آخر، من الممكن، ولكن باحتمال شبة معدوم، أن تكون جميع كلمات المستوى 3 مخفية، أو أن تكون جميعها ظاهرة! وكذلك أيضًا، ففي المستويات المتوسطة، وبما يتناسب مع مستوى الصعوبة، يمكن أن تكون المخابئ غير كاملة أو شفافة جزئيًا بحيث تظهر الكلمات جزئيًا تحتها.
How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
