Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ NAY! I call to witness the Day of Resurrection! 1 And by oath of the soul that reproaches itself. 2 What, does man reckon We shall not gather his bones? 3 Yes indeed; We have the power to remould even his finger-tips. 4 Aye! man desireth that he may sin before him. 5 he asks, "When is this Day of Resurrection to be?" 6 So, when the sight shall be dazed, 7 And the moon will be eclipsed, 8 And sun and moon are united, 9 On that day man will cry: Whither to flee! 10 No, there is no refuge. 11 With thy Sustainer, on that Day, the journey's end will be! 12 Man will be informed that Day of what he sent ahead and kept back. 13 In fact, man himself is keeping an eye on his state of affairs! 14 Though he puts forth his excuses. 15 O dear Prophet (Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him), do not cause your tongue to move along with the Qur’an in order to learn it faster. 16 Verily upon us is the collecting thereof and the reciting thereof. 17 Thus, when We recite it, follow thou its wording [with all thy mind]: 18 Then upon Us is its clarification [to you]. 19 No indeed; but you love the hasty world, 20 And leave alone the Hereafter. 21 Some faces, that Day, will beam (in brightness and beauty);- 22 looking towards their Lord; 23 And some faces, that Day, will be Basirah (dark, gloomy, frowning, and sad), 24 Imagining that there will befall them a waiste-breaking calomity. 25 But when [man's soul] reaches the throat, 26 and the angels say, "Who will take away his soul, 27 and he knows that it is the time of parting; 28 when his legs are brought together [when affliction is combined with affliction]; 29 upon that Day the driving shall be to your Lord. 30
