The News (Al-Naba')
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej) before The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ What are they asking each other about? 1 About the great event, 2 whereon they are at variance. 3 By no means! anon they shall know. 4 Nay, again, they will come to know! 5 Have We not made the earth an expanse, 6 and the mountains as pegs (to anchor the earth)? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 and We made your sleep a rest, 9 and We made the night a mantle, 10 and made the day to seek livelihood, 11 We raised over you several secure (skies), 12 and placed in them a blazing lamp 13 and sent down heavy rains from the clouds 14 So that We bring forth thereby corn and vegetation. 15 And dense gardens. 16 Surely, the Day of Judgement has an appointed time. 17 A day when the trumpet is blown and ye come in multitudes, 18 And the heaven will be opened it therefore becomes like gates. 19 The mountains put in motion turning into a mirage. 20 Surely hell lies in wait, 21 A home for the rebellious. 22 They will remain in it for ages. 23 tasting neither coolness nor any drink 24 save boiling water and a stinking fluid -- 25 The reward to each is according to what he is. 26 for they never expected to be called to account, 27 having given the lie to Our messages one and all: 28 and everything We have numbered in a Book. 29 Taste therefore. We shall not increase you in aught but torment. 30
