The people of Aykah also gave the lie to the Messengers. 176 Shu'ayb said to them, "Will you not fear God? 177 "I am to you a messenger worthy of all trust. 178 I ask of you no wage for this; 179 “And I do not ask from you any fee for it; my reward is only upon the Lord Of The Creation.” 180 ۞ "Give just measure, and cause no loss (to others by fraud). 181 and weigh with the straight balance, 182 "And withhold not things justly due to men, nor do evil in the land, working mischief. 183 but be conscious of Him who has created you, just as [He created] those countless generations of old!" 184 They said: "You are no more than one of those who have been bewitched, 185 thou art naught but a mortal, like us; indeed, we think that thou art one of the liars. 186 Therefore cause a portion of the heaven to come down upon us, if you are one of the truthful. 187 He said, "My Lord has full knowledge of all your actions." 188 But they gave him the lie. And thereupon suffering overtook them on a day dark with shadows: and verily, it was the suffering of an awesome day! 189 Most surely there is a sign in this, but most of them do not believe. 190 And lo! thy Lord! He is indeed the Mighty, the Merciful. 191
