The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ The Merciful 1 Has taught (you mankind) the Quran (by His Mercy). 2 He created man. 3 He taught distinctness. 4 The sun and the moon are in a reckoning. 5 And the herbs (or stars) and the trees both prostrate. 6 And the heaven, He raised it high, and He made the balance 7 That you not transgress within the balance. 8 And keep up the balance with equity and do not make the measure deficient. 9 He spread out the earth for the people. 10 therein fruits, and palm-trees with sheaths, 11 and grain in the blade, and fragrant herbs. 12 (Jinn and mankind) - which of the favors of your Lord do you deny? 13 He has created man from dry, rotten clay like the potter's, 14 And created jinn from the flame of fire. 15 Which favors of your Lord will you both belie? 16 The Lord of the Two Easts, the Lord of the Two Wests. 17 Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny? 18 He released the two seas, meeting [side by side]; 19 and yet there is a barrier between them which they may not overstep. 20 So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? 21 Pearls and coral-stone come forth from them. 22 Which of the wonders of your Lord's power will you twain – you men and jinn – then deny? 23 His too are the ships that run, raised up in the sea like land-marks. 24 Which, then, of your Sustainer's powers can you disavow? 25
