The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
I swear by the heaven and the comer by night; 1 And have you understood what the nightly arriver is? 2 It is the piercing star - 3 There is no living being but there is a protector over it. 4 Let the human reflect of what he is created. 5 He was created of spurting water 6 That issued from between the loins and ribs. 7 Surely (Allah) is able to bring him back (to life)! 8 On the Day when man's deepest secrets shall be put to the test 9 Then will he have no might nor any helper. 10 By the sky with its returning rain, 11 by earth splitting with verdure, 12 Lo! this (Qur'an) is a conclusive word, 13 And it is no joke. 14 They are devising a guile, 15 And I plot a plot (against them). 16 So grant the unbelievers a respite: let them alone for a while. 17
