The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ WHEN THAT which must come to pass [at last] comes to pass, 1 Then will no (soul) entertain falsehood concerning its coming. 2 (it will) abase (some) and exalt (others). 3 when the earth will suddenly shake with a terrible shaking, 4 And the mountains shall be made to crumble with (an awful) crumbling, 5 so that they become as scattered dust 6 And ye shall be sorted out into three classes. 7 The People on the Right: and how fortunate will be the People on the Right! 8 And the companions of the left - what are the companions of the left? 9 and the Outstrippers: the Outstrippers 10 Those! they shall be the brought nigh, 11 In Gardens of Delight. 12 A large group from the earlier generations. 13 and a lesser number from the later generations. 14 (They will be) on Thrones encrusted (with gold and precious stones), 15 Reclining thereon, face to face. 16 They will be served by immortal boys, 17 with goblets, jugs and cups of crystal clear wine 18 (no brows throbbing, no intoxication) 19 And with fruits, any that they may select: 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire to eat; 21 and there shall be wide-eyed maidens, 22 beautiful as pearls hidden in their shells. 23 As reward for what they used to do. 24 There they shall hear no idle talk, no cause of sin, 25 Only a saying: "Peace, peace." 26 The Companions of the Right (O Companions of the Right!) 27 Amid thornless lote-trees, 28 Bananatrees, piled 29 and extended shade, 30 And water everflowing. 31 And plenty of fruits. 32 Unending, unforbidden, 33 And [with them will be their] spouses, raised high: 34 Surely We have made them to grow into a (new) growth, 35 and made them virgins, 36 chaste, loving companions of the same age 37 All this will be for the People on the Right; 38
