The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
By [the winds] that pluck out vehemently 1 And by those who gently draw out the souls of the blessed, 2 And who glide with ease. 3 Then press forward as in a race, 4 And those who govern the event, 5 One Day everything that can be in commotion will be in violent commotion, 6 Followed by the second blast, 7 On that Day some hearts shall tremble (with fright), 8 Cast down will be (their owners') eyes. 9 They say, "What? shall we be brought back to life, 10 When we have become bones decayed! 11 They say: Then that would be a vain proceeding. 12 But it shall be only a single scare, 13 When lo! they shall be wakeful. 14 Has there come to you the story of Musa (Moses)? 15 When his Lord called upon him in the holy valley, twice, 16 "Go to Pharaoh. Indeed, he has transgressed. 17 “Tell him ‘Do you have the inclination to become pure?’ 18 that I might guide you to your Lord, so that you fear (Him)." 19 And thereupon he [went to Pharaoh and] made him aware of the great wonder [of God's grace]. 20 But Pharaoh denied and disobeyed. 21 Then he turned his back, striving. 22 and gathered his people and declared: 23 and proclaimed, "I am your supreme Lord," 24 So Allah seized him with the punishment of the hereafter and the former life. 25 Verily in this is an instructive warning for whosoever feareth (Allah). 26
