The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ When the Event (i.e. the Day of Resurrection) befalls. 1 there is no denying its coming 2 It will bring down [some] and raise up [others]. 3 When the earth will be shaken with a terrible shake. 4 and the mountains crumbled 5 So they will become like fine dust, scattered in a shaft of light. 6 And you shall be three sorts. 7 Then (as to) the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 8 Companions of the Left, what are the Companions of the Left? 9 And the foremost in the race, the foremost in the race: 10 Those! they shall be the brought nigh, 11 In the gardens of bliss. 12 a host of the ancients 13 And a few from the latter. 14 upon close-wrought couches 15 Reclining on them, facing one another. 16 immortal youths going round about them 17 with goblets and ewers and a cup filled with a drink drawn from a running spring, 18 a drink by which their minds will not be clouded nor will it cause drunkenness; 19 And fruits that they may like. 20 And the meat of fowl, from whatever they desire. 21 They will have maidens with large, lovely black and white eyes, 22 The likes unto pearls hidden. 23 a recompense for all that they did. 24 Therein they hear no vain or sinful discourse. 25 Only the saying, "Peace! Peace". 26 The companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 27 Midst lote-trees thornless. 28 And plantains laden with fruit. 29 and continuous shade, 30 near to flowing water 31 and fruits in abundance, 32 unfailing, unforbidden, 33 and upraised couches. 34 We have indeed developed these women with an excellent development. 35 Then We have made them virgins, 36 full of love, well-matched 37 For those on the Right Hand. 38
